Safety and Violence Prevention Training Safety and Violence Prevention Training The requirements for elementary professional staff members to take in-service child abuse detection training in Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Section 3319.073 were expanded with the signing of Amended Ohio House Bill 276 on March 30, 2007. This four hour in-service training covers child abuse detetion, the prevention of violence and substance abuse and the promotion of positive youth development. Module 1: Mental and Behavioral Health Module 2: Recognizing Depression and Suicide Ideation in Students Module 3: Identifying Substance Use and Abuse in Students Module 4: Violence Against Children: Bullying and Child Abuse Call 440-864-2011 to schedule an in-service training for your school staff. All elementary school professionals who were employed on the effective date of the legislation are required to fulfill the expanded in-service training requirements by March 30, 2009, and every five years thereafter. New employees must complete the training within two years of commencing employment, and every five years thereafter. ODE recommends that all elementary through high school staff members also attend such training. |
